Returning: I am returning. We are returning. Small and large circles are drawn. Each time I return I close and open a new circle. Every night we return to sleep. Every day we return home. Wherever this is and in whatever shape home might take we return.
As the sun returns to the sky so the moon returns to the night. For these paintings I returned to the sky. I spent three weeks walking around the sky in New Mexico. I filled myself and then returned East. Returning is a process of remembering. Re-member, re-assemble, re-join to complete the whole. We are lost when we do not return.
Last week I returned the video, the key, the milk. I returned a letter. I returned to my bed. I returned to my love.
Recognizing that we return offers comfort. We are all part of circles big circles of life and death and little circles of the day-to-day. From these circles I observe and I paint. I return.
